This is a little collection of photos I’ve taken at recent events, alongside a little context for my veiwers who need a little more than a pretty picture to look at.

The Next Step Transition Program empowers disabled young adults ages 18 to 26. Through a blend of classroom learning and hands-on experience, students build the skills they need for independence, employment, and community involvement.

Students are seen here planting flowers in downtown Port Huron with Port Huron Mayor Anita Ashford (pictured bottom right).

For the first time in five years, St. Clair County RESA offered Summer Camps for students in grades 2 through 10. The camps offered ranged in topic from cookie baking, creative writing, and introductory engineering to metal machining, programing, and construction.

Woodland Developmental Center focuses on students with significant disabilities. Real-world learning is implemented whenever possible, allowing students to learn life skills inside and outside the classroom.

Every autumn, Woodland Developmental Center partners with Ginn Farms, a family-owned local farm, to put on a Harvest Sale. Woodland students handle monetary transactions and sell handmade cards and dog treats that are baked on-site.
